Andres Reyes Graduates from College of Mount Saint Vincent

Andres Reyes of Bronx, NY will graduate from the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 on the River Lawn of the College's Riverdale campus.

A separate baccalaureate awards and hooding ceremony, Mass and reception will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012. The awards and hooding ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. in Hayes Auditorium, Grace Center. The Baccalaureate Mass will be held at 5 p.m. on the same day in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception in Founders Hall, for all graduates and their guests. Following the Mass, a reception will take place in Smith Hall, which is located in The Academy (South Wing) of Founders Hall on the second floor, previously known as the Administration Building. Finger foods and beverages will be served.

Dr. Julianne Imperato-McGinley will deliver the Commencement Address. Dr. Imperato-McGinley is the Associate Dean for Translational Research and Education at the Weill Cornell Medical College and the Director and principal Investigator of the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC). She is the Abby Rockefeller Mauze Distinguished Professor of Medicine in Endocrinology and Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Weill Cornel Medical College.

After graduating from the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Dr. Imperato-McGinley attended the State University of New York Health Science Center, earned her M.D., and began a career as a medical researcher in endocrinology. In the 1970s, she conducted research that helped to explain the biological mechanisms of identity and personality. In 1974, Science published her landmark paper, which defined a previously unrecognized clinical disorder called 5-alpha-reductase-deficiency. Dr. Imperato-McGinley's research led to the first medical therapy to remedy prostate enlargement and the first treatment to male-pattern baldness. She has received National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for more than 25 years.
