College of Mount Saint Vincent MBA Student Raymond Batkay Collaborates with Level 3 Telecommunications to Offer Practical Business Solutions

2011 Sep 15

College of Mount Saint Vincent M.B.A. students recently completed a nine-month collaboration with Colorado-based telecommunications company Level 3. Over the course of the program, students including Raymond Batkay of Bronx, NY studied multiple aspects of the telecommunications industry and were assigned specific strategic projects to research as part of this practical collaboration that exposed M.B.A. students to actual issues that firms such as Level 3 are facing.

The six-student team was led by Dr. Nina Aversano, assistant professor of management at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The team presented their findings to the company, a leading international Internet-services provider, on August 25. The students' work, which was well-received by members of Level 3 senior management, allowed them to apply their M.B.A. coursework to real-world business challenges and present viable solutions.

"The team delivered extremely well-researched and thoughtfully developed ideas to support Level 3's strategic direction," said Robert Kaps, vice president and general manager of the Northeast region for Level 3. "They added real value."
